Neighbourhood Policing

Following a number of incidents if disorder and criminal damage in and around Bedlington Station the Parish Council has responded to concerns from the Neighbourhood Policing Team and have removed the enclosed bus shelters on Palace Road.  The shelters which were nearing the end of their useful life had become a beacon for youths and young adults gathering to drink. The shelters could not be used by commuters and required removal of offensive graffiti on a daily basis. (The Parish Council has issued a questionnaire to all household to identify which sevices they use and wish to retain.  Once Councillors  have had an opportunity to review the views of the community and identified which facilities are used on a regular basis a decision will be made on which shelters it will consider replacing and which will be removed permanently).

The police have issued a number of disperal orders and have successfully removed and crushed an unlicenced motorbike and a car being used in the disorder.

A multi agency approach is being adopted to seek a longer term solution to the problems. If you have witnessed any incidents please report your observations to the Bedlington Neighbourhood Team using the 101 number.  If an incident is in progress please dial 999 for emergency response.
